The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website was down on Friday (October 17, 2025), with travellers who were unable to book train tickets taking to social media to voice their complaints.

The delay comes ahead of Deepavali celebrations nationwide on Monday.

The website outage report compiler, Downdetector, recorded over 6,000 complaints with many of them coming after 10 AM.

The IRCTC website noted that service was unavailable, with a statement adding: “This server is temporarily unable to service requests. Error code: 119”.

Those using the IRCTC app also complained about technical issues and glitches.

Users on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) demanded answers, as they complained about server errors and being unable to book tickets or confirm travel plans during the festival season.

This is a developing story
